Des Moines Women's Half Marathon weekend
The Des Moines Women's Race is a weekend event in Des Moines, Iowa held May 1st and 2nd, 2027. The weekend features road races in multiple formats and a mix of in-person and virtual options. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday during the race weekend.
Distances and formats include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K
- 3-person team relay
- Double: 5K plus Half or 5K plus 10K
- Virtual option
The half marathon route begins with a loop through downtown high-rise areas, crosses bridges in Gray's Lake, and finishes with a loop through the Arie den Boer Arboretum and one of the city's large urban parks. Organizers note on-course entertainment along the half marathon course.
The 3-person team relay divides the half marathon course into segments of roughly 4 to 5 miles with designated relay exchange zones. Relay teams receive special parking near Jasper Winery and each team member receives the full half marathon swag. Race swag for 2027 is to be determined.
The Saturday evening 5K is presented in partnership with Des Moines Girl and includes community activities such as a braid bar, lawn yoga and meditation, and outdoor spin classes.
