Iowa Hope Run

The Iowa Hope Run is a community-focused sporting event held at Water Works Park in Des Moines, Iowa. This event brings together participants to raise awareness and funds for brain tumor research and patient support. The gathering includes survivors, families, and supporters from the local region and beyond, benefiting organizations such as the Dragon Master Initiative, National Brain Tumor Society, and Children's Cancer Connection.

Participants can choose from several distances and participation methods:

  • 10.1 km run with participant bibs and chip timing.
  • 5 km run or walk with participant bibs and chip timing.
  • 2 km walk.
  • Kid's Fun Run for participants aged 13 and under.
  • Virtual Participant option for those supporting from other locations.

The event course is located at 2201 George Flagg Parkway. All participants receive an official event T-shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race refreshments, including fruit and beverages. The venue is accessible by car, with parking available in a designated grass lot; participants must enter via George Flagg Parkway rather than the main Fleur entrance.

The event is open to individuals of all fitness levels. Strollers and smaller bikes are permitted in the 2 km and 5 km events, provided they line up behind the runners at the start. Well-behaved, leashed pets are also allowed on the course. Early packet pickup is available on the Friday before the event at a local health club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
