Iowa Hope Run
The Iowa Hope Run is an annual community event held each May in Des Moines, Iowa, that focuses on brain tumor awareness and support. The event brings together runners, walkers, families, volunteers, and supporters to raise funds for organizations that provide research, patient resources, and family services.
The event location is Water Works Park in Des Moines. Race day parking is accessed from George Flagg Parkway with a designated grass lot and handicap accessible parking. Packet pickup is held the Friday before the race at Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines.
Distances offered at the event include:
- 10.1K run
- 5K run
- 2K walk
- Kids Fun Run
Registration and runner management are handled through a third party registration partner. Race entries include an official event T shirt, a finisher medal, and post race refreshments; 5K and 10.1K participants receive a bib with chip timing. A virtual runner option is available for those who cannot attend in person; virtual entries are listed with a fee and include an event T shirt.
Volunteers support race operations from packet pickup through race day. Proceeds benefit brain tumor related organizations such as Dragon Master Initiative and the National Brain Tumor Society. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
