Signal Hill Rotary Mutt Run 5K

The event is a dog-friendly running and walking event that starts at the Granada Launch Ramp at Rosie's Dog Beach and follows the beach pedestrian path along the Long Beach shoreline toward the pier. An adoption event by Long Beach Animal Care Services takes place at the finish line and continues as a post-race festival.

Distances offered:

  • 5k
  • 1k

Participation is limited to 400 people. T-shirts and custom medals are provided to all human participants, and translucent plaque trophies are awarded to the top three finishers. Seventy percent of proceeds are designated for Long Beach Animal Care Services to purchase urgently needed supplies; thirty percent supports the Signal Hill Rotary community project fund.

Dogs of all breeds are welcome but must be leashed, remain on the pedestrian path, be well behaved and non-aggressive with people and other dogs, and have waste picked up by their owners. The event notes that participants may run or walk with or without their dogs. Paid parking is available at the 54th & Claremont lot and the La Verne lot; the first hour costs $2.

The event encourages assembling teams of family, friends, or co-workers to increase support for the beneficiary organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
