Bluffton Oyster Run 5K
The Bluffton Oyster Run 5K is a timed community 5-kilometre run and walk that starts at the Bluffton Oyster Factory and winds through Historic Old Town Bluffton along the May River. The event is part of the Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival and includes an after-party and awards presentation immediately following the race.
The event is professionally timed by the Palmetto Running Company. There are two registration categories for the 5K, including a student discount. Registration opens May 16; general registration closes September 28, while the student discount option remains available through October 15. Registration fees are listed at $35 for the 5K and $25 for the student entry. Prices increased October 1. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed by October 8; registrations after October 8 will not include a T-shirt.
Late registration and packet pickup are scheduled: Thursday, Oct. 15, 4:00-7:00 PM at Wright Family Park; Friday, Oct. 16, 3:00-5:00 PM at Palmetto Running Co., 25 Minetta Lane; and race day pickup at Oyster Factory Park, 6:45-7:30 AM. No same day registration is available.
Awards include medals for top male and female overall and top three finishers in each age division: under 12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+, plus top three dogs and top three strollers. Parking is available on site at Oyster Factory Park.
This year’s charity beneficiary is the SCORE program, which coordinates volunteer activities such as shell bagging, reef fabrication, oyster reef construction, shell recycling, and marsh grass restoration across coastal and inland counties.
