Old Town Bluffton Oyster Run 5K
The Old Town Bluffton Oyster Run is a timed 5K run and walk that starts at the Bluffton Oyster Factory and follows a course through Historic Old Town Bluffton along the May River. The event includes a standard 5K entry and a student-discount 5K; both are professionally timed by the Palmetto Running Company.
The race is part of the Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival. An after-party and awards presentation take place immediately following the race, with medals for the top male and female overall and top three finishers in each age division. Divisions are under 12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus; there are also awards for the top three dogs and top three strollers.
The race beneficiary is the SCORE program, the South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement Program, which organizes volunteer activities such as shell bagging, manufactured wire reef fabrication, oyster reef construction, oyster shell recycling, and marsh grass restoration.
Registration fees listed are $35 for the standard 5K and $25 for the student discount. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by October 8; registrations after that date do not include a T-shirt. Late registration and packet pickup are available on October 15 at Wright Family Park and October 16 at Palmetto Running Company, with packet pickup on race day at Oyster Factory Park. Parking is available on site. Sponsorship levels are listed, including a presenting sponsor at $5,000. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
