Savannah SSOD (Stone Stairs of Death) Race
The Savannah SSOD (Stone Stairs of Death) Race is scheduled for October 11, 2026 in Savannah, GA. The event is a recurring charity race hosted by Rough Runners R4R INC. Registration opens July 30, 2026.
The course is a roughly 1/3 mile loop that combines paved road, cobblestone, and uneven stairs. Runners start midway on the stair section going up, then turn right onto Williamson Street, right on MLK Boulevard, right on River Street, and then climb up the SSOD stair section before repeating the loop. Participants only ascend the stairs during the course.
The race is chip timed. Entrants choose between one hour or two hour race durations. Male and female overall awards are given for both race durations.
All registration fees and donations from the event are directed to a family facing medical expenses. The event is described by organizers as a way for the running community to provide financial support to someone with medical or personal needs due to illness.
