Savannah SSOD (Stone Stairs of Death) Race

This event takes place in Savannah, GA and uses a chip timed, repeating loop. The loop measures one third of a mile and includes paved road, cobblestone, and uneven stairs. Participants choose between timed race durations.

1 hour timed race
2 hour timed race

Participants start midway on the stairs going up. The course proceeds with a right on Williamson St, a right on MLK BLVD, a right on River St, then up the SSOD, and the sequence repeats. Runners only ascend the stairs on each lap.

The event is hosted by Rough Runners R4R INC as a charity race. One hundred percent of registration fees, race costs, and donations from this event go to a family facing medical expenses. Donations may also be made through the event store or via PayPal credited to Rough Runners R4R INC.

Male and female overall awards are given for both race durations. The course surface and repeated stair ascent require sustained effort over multiple laps. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
