About the race
The Bluebonnet Trail Run is a multi-distance trail event held at Turkey Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls, Texas, during prime bluebonnet bloom. Routes run along Lake Travis shorelines, wooded trails, and bluebonnet meadows. The event is organized by the Fit Foundation and proceeds after expenses are donated to Healthy Kids Running Series Cedar Park youth programs.
Distances and formats offered include:
- 50 miles
- 50K
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
- Half-marathon Ruck
- 10K
- 5K
- The Gauntlet / Last One Standing loop event
The Half-marathon Ruck uses the same course as the half marathon with a mandatory loaded pack. Minimum dry pack weight is 20 lb for participants under 150 lb and 30 lb for participants 150 lb or over. Packs are weighed before the start and again at the finish; water does not count toward the minimum. Pack contents must be secure and carried by the participant for the entire course.
The Gauntlet is an escalating loop event that begins with shorter loops and increases loop length and pace targets on an hourly schedule; completing The Wall requires 176 miles under the event's escalation rules. Trail conditions depend on weather and routes may be adjusted to protect natural areas. Camping is available at Turkey Bend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
