Blue Ducky 5K Waddle : Springfield, LA
The Blue Ducky 5K Waddle is an annual event in its third year held at Tickfaw State Park in Springfield, LA (27225 Patterson Rd). The event honors an individual who helped save the lives of eight people through organ, eye, and tissue donation. A portion of proceeds will benefit a nonprofit organization that educates on organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Tickfaw State Park features over a mile of boardwalks through four ecosystems including a cypress/tupelo swamp, bottomland hardwood forest, mixed pine/hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. The in-person course follows the park main entrance road, with participants running on the side of the road or grass for 1.55 miles out and back. The route passes a water area and finishes near the River Trail head. Restrooms are adjacent to the start and finish area. Parking is available throughout the park. Check-in is located at the blue tent by the bathrooms near the River Trail parking.
Entry covers race access and event items. The entry fee is $45 and a portion of proceeds supports the donation education nonprofit. All participants receive a shirt and sunglasses, plus fruit salad and a breakfast sandwich. Awards are presented to the top male and top female finishers. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on course. Closed ear headphones are discouraged; open ear headphones are welcome. No refunds will be issued for certain unforeseen circumstances.
