Blackpool Summer Run
The Blackpool Summer Run offers two measured road races along the Promenade, starting from the Comedy Carpet by Blackpool Tower on a course closed to traffic. The event includes on-course music and entertainment, free event photography, and bespoke finisher medals. An optional commemorative technical T-shirt is available to order.
Race entries are pre-registration only. The event is England Athletics licensed. Chip timing is used; each competitor wears a personalised bib with a pre-attached timing chip that must be visible over the start and finish lines. Results showing official event time and personal chip time are published after the event.
Practical facilities include portable toilets near the registration area, a baggage storage marquee next to the collection points, and a key drop facility for car keys. Water is provided at the finish for both distances and at the halfway point on the 10k, supplied as 500 ml bottled water with a bin provided for litter. Full medical support is present, with paramedics on site and roaming bikes on the course.
Race pack collection is available on race day and bibs can also be collected from the organisers' office on Clifton Road in Blackpool the week before the event. Age minimums apply: the 10k is for ages 15 and over, the 5k for ages 11 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
