Black Squirrel Scurry Paddling Triathlon
The Black Squirrel Scurry is a paddling triathlon in its tenth annual edition, scheduled for July 31, 2027. The event combines river paddling, a road and trail bike segment, and a trail run through local parkland. Timing is provided by T & H timing Services, LLC. Registration opens March 1, 2027 at Runsignup.com.
The course components are:
- 2 mile paddle down the Prairie River
- 17.5 mile bike featuring the River Bend Trail into Lincoln County countryside
- 5k trail run through the Merrill Area Rec Complex and Council Grounds State Park
Racing divisions include Relays, 19 and Under divisions, Tandems, Solo age group divisions, and a category for eBikes (nonthrottle). Proceeds from the event are donated to the Northwoods Veterans Post and Friends of the River Bend Trail. Awards and a raffle are held at Cenotaph Park across the street from Ballyhoos after the race.
