Black Squirrel Scurry Triathlon
The Black Squirrel Scurry is a multi-discipline triathlon held in Merrill, Wisconsin on July 25, 2026. The event uses Prairie Trails Park and nearby facilities for transitions and the finish, with packet pick-up available at the MARC and at the starting area on race day. A shuttle runs between the MARC and Prairie River Park for participant transport.
The course consists of three sequential legs:
- 2 mile paddle down the Prairie River
- 17.5 mile bike on the River Bend Trail and county roads
- 5K trail run through the Merrill Area Rec Complex and Council Grounds State Park
Multiple divisions are offered, including solo, 19U (ages 19 and under), relay teams, tandem teams, and eBike divisions (no throttle). Relay and tandem teams may include 2 or 3 participants; if one member is 10 or under, a tag-along may be used on the bike portion. eBike divisions are placed in a separate division and are not eligible for the overall champion prize.
Awards are given to the top three in each division, with an overall plaque presented to the top solo male and top solo female. Overall male and female champions earn free registration for the following year's race. Beneficiaries include the Northwoods Veterans Post and Friends of the River Bend Trail.
