Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge
The Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge is an adventure race scheduled for Saturday, May 29, 2027, held within 30 miles of Rib Mountain, Wisconsin. Teams and solo competitors navigate with map and compass while completing multiple disciplines over set race durations. Team members must stay together throughout the race and each team must include at least one person age 18 or older.
Disciplines include trekking and running, biking, canoeing with provided canoes and paddles, orienteering, and team challenge stations. Entry includes a T shirt and a custom die cast finisher medal for all finishers. Canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices are provided by the race. Awards are presented three deep in every division for all three race durations.
Distances are approximate and vary by course and route choice.
- 3 hour Bike about 15 km, Trek about 5 km, Paddle about 5 km
- 8 hour Bike about 40 km, Trek about 15 km, Paddle about 10 km
- 18 hour Bike about 75 km, Trek about 30 km, Paddle about 20 km
Divisions include solo female and male, two person teams mixed or single gender, three to four person teams mixed or single gender, and family teams of two to four multi generation racers with at least one under age 18. Proceeds benefit the UW Wausau Campus Foundation and UWSP student scholarship funds. Average Memorial Day weekend temperatures in Wausau are about 72 degrees high and 51 degrees low.
