Event overview
WausaUltra takes place May 1-3, 2026 in Sylvan Park, Wausau, Wisconsin. The event uses a single loop course of 4.167 miles that is mostly trail and includes multiple climbs, single-track sections, a creek and small bridges. The start/finish area serves as a home base with space for tents, aid, toilets and parking.
Race formats and distances
- Limitless - repeated 4.167-mile loops until one participant remains or the event ends.
- Solo - one loop of 4.167 miles.
- Double - two loops, 8.334 miles total.
Solo and Double entrants have a three-hour window to complete their chosen distance. There is also a free kids' race for children 12 and under with an expected distance under half a mile.
Course details
The loop runs through Sylvan Park on mostly trail terrain. The route includes gravel approach paths, hill climbs including a tubing-hill section, forest single track, a stretch along school property, and a roller-coaster descent before returning past a creek to the home base. The organizer notes the course may be adjusted before race day but will remain 4.167 miles with notable elevation changes.
Registration and policies
Entry fees vary by distance and date of purchase. Registration closes April 29, 2026; there are no race-day sign-ups. Entries are final for the chosen year with no deferrals or refunds. Transfers of registration to another person are allowed, and switching from Limitless to Solo or Double is possible without a refund for fee differences.
