Race Overview
The Black Friday 10k takes place on November 27 at Frying Pan Park in Herndon, Virginia. Participants run a combination of technical trails and light gravel roads.
Course & Distances
The event features a 10k and a 5k race.
- The 10k is four laps of the course.
- The 5k is two laps of the course.
The route includes a technical trail section with rocks and roots. Most of the course is on a light gravel dirt road that is fairly flat.
Runner Perks & Awards
Runners receive a finisher's coin, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall. Awards are also given to the first and second place male and female finishers in multiple age groups.
Registration & Logistics
Packet pickup and race day registration are available on-site. A virtual run option is offered for those who cannot attend. The event supports the charity BlackBearSledDog.com, which finds homes for retired sled dogs.
Three water stations are available along the 10k course, with one on the 5k course. Restrooms are located near the playground. Parking is available at Frying Pan Park.
Series & Policies
Race points count towards the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series, as well as a Fall Series. The event follows an all-weather policy (rain or shine). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
