Event overview
The 2026 Black Friday 5k & 10k is scheduled for November 27, 2026 at Frying Pan Park in Herndon, Virginia (2709 West Ox Rd). Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is available. Walkers are welcome.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. The event supports BlackBearSledDog, an organization that rehomes retired working sled dogs.

Course, logistics and awards
The route uses a mix of technical trail with rocks and roots and a light gravel dirt road; most of the course is fairly flat. Course maps are provided by the organizer. The 10k course has three water stations at approximately mile markers 1.55, 3.10 and 4.65. The 5k course has one water station at about mile 1.55. Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are located near the playground.
Parking is at Frying Pan Park; the organizer will set up near the Equestrian Center parking lot (GPS pin 38.936631, -77.409426). Packet pickup is available at the event; participants are advised to arrive about one hour before their event. Race day registration is available. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before November 16; extra shirts may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to the first and second place men and women in age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Top three overall finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Live results are posted online, with final results and series points published the Monday after the race.
