About the race
The Janney 5K & Fun Run is a community running event at Janney Elementary in Washington, DC, held on Saturday, November 14, 2026. The event marks the 15th running of the school’s annual 5K and fun run.
The event program includes:
- 5K
- 1-mile Fun Run
There is an opening ceremony before the races and a closing award ceremony after the Fun Run. Awards will be presented for top male and female overall, top students and top teachers, and top runners in each age category. A course map is provided for the 5K and Fun Run.
Registration fees are listed on the event page; the event listing shows $50 for the 5K and $25 for the Fun Run. Family sponsorships are available for $120 and include recognition on the back of the race t-shirt.
Packet pickup is held the week of the race at Janney Elementary, when participants can collect race t-shirts, race bibs, and a swag bag. Scheduled packet pickup times are Thursday, November 13, 3:30pm to 6:00pm, and Friday, November 14, 3:30pm to 6:00pm. Same-day registration is not offered. The event is organized as a community activity by the school PTA and school staff; participants needing financial assistance for registration fees are encouraged to contact the school administration.
