Shark Week Showdown - Bigfoot Running Company
The Shark Week Showdown is organized by Bigfoot Running Company and takes place at Oyster Creek Park, 4033 State Highway 6 South, Sugar Land, Texas on August 22, 2026. The event has an ocean theme and includes music at the start and finish areas and aid stations along the course.
Distances offered:
- Kids Dash - 50 m, ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile - untimed, includes race tee and finisher medal
- 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed with awards
- 10K - 6.22 miles, chip timed with awards
- Volunteer Then Run 5K - volunteer then run option
- Virtual Run - 9.33 miles
The 5K and 10K include age group awards and overall trophies for first overall male and female. Masters recognition is provided for ages 40 and above. Age group awards for the 5K and 10K cover categories from 10 and under through 70 plus.
Volunteer options include a Volunteer Then Run 5K that provides a chip timed bib, race tee, and finisher medal and is limited to the first ten registrants. Full race volunteers receive a race shirt, VIP race access, and a choice of a free future race entry or a $20 prepaid digital gift card. Volunteers check in at the registration tent and are asked to arrive 1.5 hours before race start.
Course surfaces include pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths. Events occur in parks and greenbelts so participants and volunteers should be mindful of dog walkers, cyclists, and picnickers.
