About the race
The Wiener Run in San Antonio is a community running event held at Southside Lions Park. The event includes on-site and virtual race options, partner fundraising and a collection of donations for a local wiener dog rescue. Runners receive race shirts and finisher medals, and the finish area provides a free hot dog and beverage for each runner. The event features music, a DJ, live awards announcements, aid stations along the course, and age group and overall awards for the timed races.
Course details note a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and grass paths. The 5K and 10K are chip-timed and include overall and masters recognition plus standard age group prizes. A volunteer-then-run option provides a chip-timed bib and race items for participants who volunteer before running. Volunteer roles include water station, course monitors, finish line helpers, packet pickup, sweeper, lead bike, and mascot support. Shirt orders are guaranteed if submitted at least ten days before the event. The event takes place in public parks and participants should share paths with dog walkers and picnickers. The event is organized to run rain or shine.
