The Wiener Run 5K & 10K - Austin
The Wiener Run is a springtime community event held at East Metro Park in Manor, Texas. Organized by the Bigfoot Running Company, this event supports a local dachshund rescue group through fundraising and on-site donation collections for dog food and supplies. The course features a variety of surfaces, including pavement, crushed granite, and grass paths, passing through public park areas.
Participants can choose from several distances and participation options:
- 10K (The Long Wiener Run) - A chip-timed 6.22-mile course with overall and age group awards.
- 5K (The Short Wiener Run) - A chip-timed 3.11-mile course with overall and age group awards.
- 1 Mile (The Little Wiener Run) - An untimed event open to all experience levels.
- Kids Dash (The Tiny Wienie Run) - A 20-yard untimed dash for children aged 10 and under.
- Virtual Run - A 13.1-mile remote participation option.
All in-person participants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. Following the race, a post-run celebration includes a live DJ, the presentation of awards, and refreshments for runners. The 5K and 10K races include age group recognition across various categories ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over, with top finishers receiving specific trophies or pins.
Aid stations are positioned along the course to provide hydration. The event also features a special volunteer-runner program for the 5K distance and opportunities for non-running volunteers to assist with course monitoring, water stations, and finish line activities.
