Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Shreveport
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Shreveport, organized by Bigfoot Running Company, takes place at Walker Place Park. This event features a variety of distances held primarily on paved trails through regional parks and greenbelts, though participants may also encounter surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt paths.
The following event distances are available:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- 5k Run (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile Run
- Kids Dash (approx. 20 yards)
- Virtual Run
The Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5k events are chip-timed. These distances include various award categories, with trophies for overall male and female finishers as well as gold, silver, and bronze pins for specific age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
The race incorporates a Día de los Muertos theme, featuring a costume contest at the starting area before the races begin. A panel of judges evaluates costumes based on criteria such as creativity and authenticity. On-course aid stations provide water for participants. At the finish line rally tent, attendees will find a DJ, live award announcements, and refreshments including Mexican treats.
Participants must register at least 10 days before the event to be guaranteed a race shirt. Packet pickup is conducted at the race location on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
