Event Details
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon Austin takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The event offers multiple race distances, including a themed costume contest celebrating Dia de los Muertos. The course is planned to go through Texas parks.
Distances
The event includes the following distances:
- Kids Dash (approximately 20 yards, for children 10 and under)
- 1 Mile Run
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Virtual Run
- Volunteer then Run option
Course and Features
The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed. The course is expected to be on mixed surfaces, including pavement, crushed granite, and potentially dirt paths. Aid stations providing water will be located along the route. A post-race celebration at a rally tent includes snacks, refreshments, and music.
Awards and Recognition
Overall male and female winners for the 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon receive trophies. First-place male and female masters (age 40+) finishers receive a special recognition pin. Standard age group awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) are given in multiple categories from 10 & under to 70+ for the 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon. A costume contest is held before the race, with a prize for the best costume.
Participant Perks
Registered participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. Youth pricing is available for the 5K and Quarter Marathon for participants 12 and under. Group discounts are offered.
