Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Austin
The event is scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Austin, Texas. The organizer is the Bigfoot Running Company.
The event features multiple race distances:
- Kids Dash (approx. 20 yards, for ages 10 and under)
- 1 Mile Run
- 5k Run (3.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Virtual Run
- Volunteer then Run (allows participation in any distance)
The event has a Day of the Dead theme and includes a pre-race costume contest with a prize for the best costume. The course travels through Texas parks and features mixed surfaces, including pavement, crushed granite, and sometimes dirt paths. Aid stations providing water are located on the route.
Chip timing is used for the 5k, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon events. The Kids Dash and 1 Mile Run are not chip timed.
Participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Awards are presented for top finishers in multiple age categories, with special Bigfoot trophies for the first overall male and female winners in the Quarter Marathon and Half Marathon. There is a post-race celebration with music and refreshments.
