Bigfoot Classic - Houston
The Bigfoot Classic takes place at Brazos River Park in Sugar Land, Texas. This outdoor event utilizes the park's scenic woodlands and paved trails, though participants may encounter mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt paths. The race environment features a lively atmosphere with a DJ, announcements for finishers, and a rally tent providing snacks and refreshments.
Participants can choose from a variety of race distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 15K (9.33 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- 5K (3.11 miles)
- 1 Mile Run
- Kids Dash (50 meters)
The 5K, Quarter Marathon, 15K, and Half Marathon distances are professionally chip-timed. These distances offer overall trophies for the top male and female finishers, as well as age group awards and master's category pins. The 1 Mile Run and the Kids Dash (for children ages 10 and under) are not timed. All finishers across all distances receive a medal and a shirt.
A notable feature of the event is the Legendary Beast Costume Contest, where runners are encouraged to dress as mythical creatures. A crowd-voted winner receives a trophy and prize pack. Aid stations are positioned along the course to provide water and assistance. The event proceeds regardless of rain, heat, or cold. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
