Big Sioux Rec Trail Race - Brandon, SD
The event offers trail races held inside Big Sioux Recreation Area on the east edge of Brandon, South Dakota, using paved, dirt, and grass trails that run alongside the Big Sioux River. Courses pass through prairie and wooded areas and include a climb to a bluff overlooking the city. Start and finish are located by the main picnic shelter and playground.

Facilities at the start/finish area include a large covered picnic shelter, a playground, a vault toilet, and an additional port-a-potty. All state parks require a park permit or day pass for entry. The races are chip timed by 605 Running Company.
Registration information lists a standard registration price of $40 and a reduced price of $15 for participants 18 years old and under, both through the registration cutoff. Registration closes on Wed, Sep 23 at 4:00 PM CT. There is no refund or credit for missed races.
Because the courses lie within the Big Sioux floodplain, routes may be significantly altered or events canceled if heavy rainfall occurs before the race. The Trail Race Series uses age divisions for points and awards; point scoring runs 10 points for first in each division down to 1 point for tenth.
