The Big Sioux Rec Trail Race is a trail running event held at Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon, SD and organized by Run Sioux Falls. The event includes multiple distances that start and finish near the main picnic shelter and playground at the park. The courses use the paved north-south bike trail and connecting dirt and grass trails through prairie, wooded areas, and up a bluff with views over the city of Brandon.

- 2 Mile
- Free kids race (about 1 mile)
Facilities at the start/finish include a large covered picnic shelter, playground, a vault toilet, and an additional port-a-potty. The races are chip timed by 605 Running Company. The event is part of a Trail Race Series that awards points by age division; age divisions include 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. The series returned swag to all races and adjusted age groups for points awards in 2026.
All state parks require a park permit or day pass to enter. Pets are not allowed in the Trail Race Series. Because the courses lie in the Big Sioux floodplain, courses may be altered or races canceled if heavy rainfall causes flooding. Registration prices listed for the event are $40 for most entrants and $15 for those 18 and under; registration closes September 23, 2026.
