Event Overview
The Big Rivers Splash & Dash takes place at Big Rivers Waterpark in New Caney, Texas. This second annual event benefits the TANGO2 Research Foundation, supporting research and awareness for a rare genetic disorder. The courses provide participants with a unique view of the park as the routes wind through the waterpark grounds and around the adjacent lake.
Race Options
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- Aquathlon: A 500m swim around the lazy river followed by a 5K run.
- 10K Dash: A run around the lake and through the waterpark.
- 5K Dash: A run around the lake and through the waterpark.
- Kids Dash: A 100-200m fun run located at the front of the waterpark for children aged 10 and under.
- Virtual Events: Options for those unable to attend in person to complete a 5K or 10K at a location of their choice.
Participant Information
Registered participants receive a custom dynamic polytech race shirt, an interactive finisher medal, and an official race bib. The event features a pre-race warm-up, a finish line tent with snacks and refreshments, and live music provided by a DJ. Those participating in the on-site events also receive early entry to Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures on the day of the race. Awards are presented to top overall finishers and various age group categories for the competitive distances.
Logistics
The event proceeds in various weather conditions, including rain. Packet pickup is available at the waterpark during the week leading up to the race and on the morning of the event. A "Volunteer & Run" program is also available for those interested in assisting with race operations before participating in their chosen distance.
