Event Overview

The Kingwood Texas 4th of July Freedom Run is a family-friendly running event held in Kingwood, Texas. The 2026 edition is noted as the third annual event. It takes place at Town Center Park.

Course and Distances

The course goes through the Kingwood Greenbelt trails. The event offers four main distances: an 8-mile race, a 4-mile race, a 2-mile race, and a Kids Dash for children 10 and under. The Kids Dash is a short sprint of 100-200 meters, and parents are allowed to run with their children. The races start together, except the Kids Dash, which starts earlier. There is also a bonus Sack Race for kids and adults, with limited availability.

Participant Details

All participants receive a custom poly-tech race shirt, a finisher medal, and a race bib. Award winners receive overall and age-group awards. There is also an exclusive event swag pack available for purchase, with proceeds supporting charitable partners.

Charitable Partners and Volunteer Options

The event benefits the charities Team RWB, Torch of Freedom Foundation, and Turning Point USA. Donations and personal fundraisers for these charities are possible through the event's registration page. Top donors or fundraisers can receive a full registration refund and recognition. A "Volunteer then Run" option provides a discounted registration for those who help with race-day and packet-pickup tasks before running the 4-mile or 2-mile race. Full-race volunteers also receive race swag and one free entry to a future event by the organizer.

Packet Pickup and Other Activities

Packet pickup is available on the Wednesday before the event at a local Pure Barre studio and on race morning at Town Center Park. Pre-race activities include music, sponsor booths, a warm-up session, and a "Best 4th Attire" contest. Post-race, there is a finishers tent with water, food, and music.

Virtual Option

A virtual run option is available for the 8-mile, 4-mile, and 2-mile distances. Virtual participants receive a digital bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and shipping for their packet. They can run any day at any location and upload their results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
