17th Annual Big Bang 5K
The Big Bang 5K is an annual running event held in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The course consists of flat roads that lead participants past a golf course and residential areas. The event features two primary distances:
- 5 km
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 5 km route starts at Christ Episcopal Church, follows San Juan Road north for approximately 1.4 miles, makes a U-turn before San Juan Circle, and returns via Pablo Road onto San Juan Road for the finish. The race is electronically timed using disposable bib tags.
Participants receive patriotic themed shirts if registered by the specified cutoff date. Additional amenities include hand crafted pops from a mobile cart and a pre-race warmup led by a certified coach. The first 250 finishers in the 5 km race receive coasters, while participants in the kids' Fun Run receive medals.
Awards are presented to the first place overall male and female finishers, as well as masters winners. Age group recognition is provided for the top two finishers in categories ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Packet pick up is available the day prior to the event and on race morning at the church. Parking is located behind the venue with access via Solana Road.
