Get Nothing 5K
Get Nothing 5K is a free, timed community 5K for runners and walkers. The event intentionally provides no swag bags, no shirts, and no medals. There is also no postrace food or drink supplied at the finish line, so participants should bring their own hydration.
Timing is manual and recorded as gun time; there are no timing chips. Participants register online and check in before the start to obtain a bib, which must be worn on the front for manual timing to work. Walkers are explicitly welcome and a designated "TURTLE" brings up the rear to ensure nobody finishes last unless they volunteer for that role.
The event is presented as flexible in purpose: it can be used for an all-out effort, a training run such as tempo or interval work, a tune-up or shake-out, or a social jog. Many editions have been held at parks and public venues in the Jacksonville area and nearby locations. Facilities such as toilets may or may not be available depending on the chosen course and venue.
Manual timing, gun time results, absence of race swag, and the community focus define the format: a measured 5 kilometers with an emphasis on running together and simple logistics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
