About the race
BeYOUtiful Strides Sparkle 5K Run is a women and girls only, noncompetitive 5K run/walk held in Ethan, South Dakota, organized by the BeYOUtiful Strides Running Club. The event takes place at the Ethan Community Center and serves as the season finale for the club's participants. Registration has a fee of $30 and includes an event shirt. The organizer describes the run as sparkle themed and notes prizes for the most "sparkled" participant, the best encouraging sign, and for the most encouraging houses along the route.
Spectators, including men, are invited to attend as supporters and sign holders. BeYOUtiful Strides Running Club is a youth club for girls in 2nd through 6th grade in Ethan. The club meets twice weekly for 30 minute run or walk sessions that also include a weekly bible verse and short devotion as part of its emphasis on healthy habits, individual strengths, encouragement, and character development. The event is presented as an inclusive, noncompetitive opportunity for women and girls to run or walk together, and it highlights community support along the route and youth participation as part of the club's season-ending activities.
