Besotted at Bingley
Besotted at Bingley is a chip-timed trail running event along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal just outside Bingley. The course follows a mostly flat, even towpath with good underfoot trail; elevation is flat apart from the 3-rise and 5-rise locks. The route is marshalled and signed, with feed and drink stations approximately every three miles. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and treats. All races are licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules.
Logistics for the event note two locations: car parking, registration and toilets are at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, Wagon Lane, BD16 1LT. After registration participants walk to the Fishermans Pub Garden, where the event starts and finishes (about a 10 minute walk). Bingley train station is about 1.5 miles from registration. There is no parking at the start area; on-road and town centre parking are available. Organisers encourage car sharing. The event provides downloadable GPX route files, operates a cup-less policy at aid stations so runners may bring a reusable cup or bottle, and restricts large over-ear headphones while allowing bone conduction or single-ear use. Runners should note not every junction will be marshalled; withdrawal must be reported to the nearest marshal. Transfers and deferrals can be self-served up to 72 hours before the event.
