Belmont Classic 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk
The Belmont Classic takes place on April 18, 2026 at the Belmont Police Department in Belmont, NC. The event marks the 22nd anniversary of the race series first held in 2004 and is presented by the Belmont Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association.
Two event distances are offered:
- 5K - road race, digitally timed, certified course
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk - starts at the 5K finish; dogs allowed on leash
The 5K is an in-person road race open to all ages. Registrants who register by April 1 receive a race t-shirt; registrations after April 1 do not include a t-shirt. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Belmont Police Department in the days before the race and again before the event on race day. Event parking is located in the vacant field on Chronicle Street adjacent to the police department and will be directed by officers.
Prices vary by age and registration date, with reduced fees for youth and different post–April 1 rates that do not include a t-shirt. Registration codes for discounts are available for families of four or more, race teams of ten or more, law enforcement officers, and other groups.
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to top three male and female finishers across multiple age groups. Finish Well Timing will professionally time the 5K. As a non-profit event, no refunds are issued except in the event of cancellation due to severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
