Beer City Half San Jose

The Beer City Half San Jose is a multi-distance running event held at Almaden Lake Park. The course primarily utilizes the regional trail systems and scenic areas of South San Jose, providing participants with views of the local landscape and waterways.

The event offers several distinct race distances and categories:

  • Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course along the Guadalupe River, Los Alamitos, and Calero Creek Trails with a net altitude gain of 224 feet.
  • 10k: A 10-kilometer route that follows the Guadalupe River and Los Alamitos Trails.
  • 5k: A 5-kilometer loop running along the Guadalupe River and around Lake Almaden.
  • Beer Stroll: A 1-mile run or walk that includes beer tastings at the start and finish.
  • Beat the Beast Beer Mile: A 1-mile competitive race where participants consume four beers while attempting to stay ahead of a mascot.

Located at 5949 Winfield Blvd, the venue serves as the hub for both the athletic events and the associated Beer City Festival. The festival takes place throughout the day and features various local brews from the San Jose area. Participants in the running events receive a shirt and a finisher's medal as part of their registration. Specific options are also available for those who wish to attend the beer tasting festival without participating in the longer distance races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
