Event overview
Beer City Half™ San Jose takes place on May 30, 2026 at Almaden Lake Park in San Jose, CA. The event program includes a half marathon, 10k, 5k, a one-mile Beer Stroll, a Beat the Beast Beer Mile, and a Beer Tasting Only option. The Beat the Beast Beer Mile requires participants to drink four 12-oz beers while running one mile; a chasing "beast" is part of the race and runners caught by the beast are eliminated. The Beer Tasting Only option is open to ages 21 to 100 and has a separate registration opening on March 30, 2026.

Festival and extras
A post-run Festival features tastings from San Jose and California brewers. All runners receive a shirt, a Key to Beer City finisher's medal, a custom tasting glass, and unlimited tasting at the post-run Festival. An afternoon Shindig at Clandestine Brewing includes music, food trucks, and games; Shindig tickets include the first beer. The Beermazing Race asks participants to visit five brewers, drink a pint at each, and follow clues between locations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
