Beat the Gower Coast
Beat the Gower Coast is a fundraising trail hike on the Gower Peninsula taking place on Saturday 5 September 2026. The event raises money for Marie Curie to support expert end of life care. Participants can choose between two route distances.
- 11 miles route across the Gower Peninsula
- 21 miles route across the Gower Peninsula
The route starts at the National Trust Worms Head site in Rhossili Bay and passes The Vile, an example of medieval strip farming. The course includes panoramic views of Rhossili Bay, undulating farmland and the coastal path at Mewslade Bay, then returns toward Worms Head for the finish. The finish includes a medal and a glass of bubbly. The published route is subject to permission and may change; participants will be notified of any updates.
Event logistics listed by the organiser include registration fees of £25 for the 11 mile route and £35 for the 21 mile route, and a suggested fundraising target of £207 per person, which the organiser notes could help fund nine hours of overnight nursing care. The minimum age is 14; under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Support for participants includes tailored training plans, a fundraising pack, online resources, rest and refill stations, expert guides on the day, an event photographer and a merchandise tent.
