The Course

The route is an out-and-back course starting on Studland Beach. It follows sand, national trails, and the Purbeck Way before turning back at Grange Hill. The run passes landmarks including the Sandbanks Chain Ferry, Old Harry Rocks, and Corfe Castle. The terrain includes sand, hills, and uneven trail, requiring trail shoes.

Unique Race Feature

One runner is selected to be "the Ferry". This runner starts at the back of the field and moves steadily forward. Finishing ahead of this runner is the event's unique challenge, and those who do so earn a special goodie bag.

Event Details

  • Bib collection takes place at the Knoll House Hotel.
  • The start and finish are on the beach outside the Knoll Beach Café.
  • All finishers receive a distinctive medal.
  • There is no qualification standard to enter. The minimum age is 20.

Aid and Facilities

There are 5 aid stations on the route, offering fuelling options including vegan and gluten-free choices. Toilets are available at the start, finish, and at points along the course. A mandatory kit list includes a water carrier, phone, survival blanket, and energy food. In bad weather, a waterproof jacket is required.
