Beat the Ferry
Beat the Ferry is a coastal trail event in Studland, Dorset on 11 July 2026. It offers two distances and uses an out and back route along the Purbecks. The course passes Studland Beach, Old Harry Rocks, the Purbeck Way, Corfe Castle and sections of the South West Coast Path.
Distances
- 50 km out and back coastal trail
- 25 km Studland course
The 50 km race includes five aid stations and the 25 km race includes three aid stations. The main Life Base is at Corfe and provides indoor space, food, and fuelling. The course is fully marked, marshalled in key places, and uses chip timing. First aid is available on course. Toilets are located at the start, at about 6 km on the South West Coast Path, at the main Life Base, and shortly after leaving the Corfe aid station.
A single runner is chosen to be the Ferry in the 50 km event. That runner starts at the back and progresses through the field; runners who finish before the Ferry receive a special goodie bag. All finishers receive a finisher medal and age category awards are presented. Pacers and dogs are not permitted. Entrants must meet minimum ages: 20 years for the 50 km and 18 years for the 25 km. Entries are non refundable; transfers are only allowed through the official ticketing partner and name changes incur a small fee.
Mandatory kit includes a water container, fully charged phone, and basic survival items. Participants must not accept supplies on route and must close gates behind them. Parking is available at the Knoll Beach car park with payment or a valid National Trust membership card. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
