Event
The Bay One Beer Mile - RELAY takes place on March 21, 2026 at Ice House Brewery and Marina in Colonial Beach, Virginia (119 Monroe Bay Avenue). The event is the second annual untimed relay and is limited to twelve 5-person teams (60 participants). Registration fee is $30 and registration closes February 27, 2026. All participants must be 21 years of age or older.
Format and rules
The relay uses a looped course of 0.1-mile. Each participant must consume a 10 fl oz beer and then complete a full lap. Each team completes a total of ten laps, equal to 1 mile, with team members completing two laps each in a fixed order. Teams receive a themed baton to pass between runners. Beer must be consumed in the designated drinking area and competitors must tip the cup over their head to show it is empty before continuing. Beer cups must not be tampered with and no shortcuts on the course are allowed. Appropriate running or walking shoes are mandatory; sandals, heels, and unstable footwear are not permitted. Awards will be presented to the top three teams and a prize is planned for best team spirit.
Logistics
There is a single packet pickup on race day at Ice House Brewery and Marina. New participants receive an unfilled logo growler; returning participants may bring last year’s growler for filling after the race. A meet and greet is scheduled for the evening before the event.
