Event Overview
The Bay One Beer Mile Relay is an untimed team relay event held at the Ice House Brewery and Marina in Colonial Beach, Virginia. The event honors the memory of John Lamb, a dedicated blood donor, and aims to raise awareness for blood donation while celebrating craft beer. It is the event's second year.
Format and Rules
The relay involves teams of five participants. The course is a 0.1-mile loop on the brewery's property. Each team must complete a total of 10 laps (a combined mile). The format requires each participant to consume a 10 fl oz beer from Ice House Brewery before running two laps. The process repeats in the same order until all laps are complete. Teams are given a themed baton to pass between runners. Specific rules govern the drinking procedure, forbid tampering with beer cups, and state that vomiting only leads to disqualification if observed by event officials. All participants must be 21 or older.
Logistics and Details
The event is capped at twelve teams (60 total participants). Team captains must create their team during registration before other members can join. Awards are given to the top three teams and for the best team spirit, with costumes and themes encouraged. Packet pickup is on the event day at the brewery, where new participants receive an unfilled logo growler. A valid photo ID is required for pickup.
Additional Information
A meet and greet is scheduled for the evening before the event at the brewery. After the race, there will be award presentations, live music, and food and drinks available for purchase.
