Event overview
The Dahlgren Trail Half Marathon is scheduled for January 31, 2026, in King George, Virginia. The event is a half marathon held on the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail. The course is an out-and-back on a flat, smooth former railroad bed that begins at the Bloomsbury Road Trailhead and heads east for about 6.5 miles before returning. The race has a time limit of 3.5 hours (about 16 minute per mile pace). Registration is open to ages 14 and older. The listed entry fee is $75, with the price increasing after December 31, 2025. Logistics, aid stations, awards, and charity
Packet pick up is available at River Rock Outfitter in Fredericksburg on the Thursday before the race and at the Bloomsbury Road Trailhead on race day. Race location address is 10431 Bloomsbury Road, King George, VA 22485. Race day parking is at the Route 605 Trailhead, with overflow parking off Birchwood Creek Road.
Aid stations are located at miles 1.5, 4, 6.5, 9, and 11.5. Gatorade is provided at miles 4 and 9. A porta potty is located at the Comorn crossing (miles 4 and 9).
Overall awards are given to the top three men and top three women with cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50. Age-group awards are given to the top three men and women in standard age brackets and are based on chip time. The race supports the Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail, a volunteer 501(c)(3) group that works to develop and maintain the trail.
