About the race
The Shamrock 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for 03/14/2027 at 9100 Crain Hwy, Bel Alton, MD. The event is organized as a community 5K run and walk that begins and ends at the Bel Alton Fire Department, a short walk from Ape Hangers Bar & Grill. Race packets can be picked up on Saturday 1-3 (03/13/27) and on Sunday (03/14/27) beginning at 7am at Ape Hangers Bar & Grill. Parking will begin at Ape Hangers and overfill parking will be directed to the Bel Alton Fire Department field; participants are asked not to park in the fire department's lot.
This is the 12th Annual Shamrock 5K Fueled by Coal Road Fitness. Awards will be given to top qualifiers in each age group and there is an award for the best St. Patrick's Day costume. Participants who register by 2/21 will receive a t-shirt, and all participants receive a post-race buffet ticket at Ape Hangers Bar & Grill. Registration opens 9/1/2026; the early bird registration fee is $40, increasing to $45 on 1/1/2027 and to $50 on 3/1/2027. The beneficiary for this year's race is Clements Cuties, an organization that raises awareness and supports local families facing childhood cancers in Southern Maryland.
