4th Annual Bark & Bolt
The Bark & Bolt is a community sports event held at Patton Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This annual gathering is a dog-friendly event that supports local rescue efforts through a partnership with the Blue Ridge Humane Society. The event features multiple distance options for participants, including the ability to run or walk with or without a dog.
All registered participants receive a finishers medal and have the opportunity to receive a custom race shirt if registered by the specified July deadline. The 5k course includes chip timing and professional photography. A virtual participation option is also available for those unable to attend in person.
The event offers several race categories:
- 5k (timed, options for runners with or without dogs)
- One Mile Fun Run/Walk (untimed)
- 100-Meter Paw Pursuit (dash for dogs and owners)
- Virtual 5k
The race schedule is complemented by the Bark in the Park Dog Fair, which hosts various local pet-friendly vendors and community partners. A Top Dog Contest and an awards ceremony are conducted following the completion of the races. For safety, all dogs must remain on a non-retractable leash at all times, be up-to-date on vaccinations, and be comfortable in a crowd setting. A bike corral is available at the park for those who choose to cycle to the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
