Event overview
Bad Ass Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra held at Dry Creek Parkway in Rio Linda, California (northern Sacramento). The event uses the traditional backyard ultra format: runners complete repeated loops and each new loop begins on the hour. The yard length is 4.16 miles with about 30 ft of elevation gain per loop. The winner is the last runner to complete a loop; if no runner completes more loops than others, there is no winner.
The race began in 2023 as a fatass event, became an official collaboration in 2024, and is now presented under the Singletrack Running umbrella. It is an affiliated Backyard event, and participants are eligible to earn selection opportunities for national and world backyard ultra competitions. Early registration is open but permits have not yet been secured; early registrants will receive a refund if permits cannot be issued. Registration closes March 25.
