Back Cove Backyard Ultra
Back Cove Backyard Ultra takes place in Portland on July 11, 2026. The event follows the backyard ultra format: participants run a standard loop every hour for up to 24 hours, and the event continues until only one runner remains.
Each hourly circuit covers 4.16 miles. The route combines the Back Cove Trail : a 3.5 mile, non-technical, mostly flat gravel loop with a short paved bridge crossing : plus a 0.60 mile add-on at the start/finish area to reach the standard backyard distance. The trail runs along the edge of a tidal estuary basin and offers continuous views along the route.
There are two aid stations. An unstaffed station in Payson Park supplies water, basic first aid items, and packaged snacks. A fully staffed aid station at the start/finish provides water, electrolytes, packaged and prepared snacks, and basic first aid supplies. Event personnel remain at the start/finish for the duration of the event, and participants may leave drop bags or supplies at that location. Porta potties are available in Payson Park and at the start/finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
