Bryre Dragon
Bryre Dragon is a trail running event organized by H9 Events at Vogel State Park near Blairsville, GA. The event includes multiple race options and uses trails on the Duncan Ridge and surrounding ridgelines.
The main race formats listed are:
- Bryre Dragon 100 mile
- Bryre Dragon 40 mile
- Dragon Egg 40 km
The course follows the Coosa Loop, the Duncan Ridge Trail, a short section of the Benton MacKaye Trail and several miles of Forest Service road. The 100 mile course is built from multiple traverses of the Duncan Ridge and is nearly an out and back. The outbound route crosses Wolf Creek while the inbound route uses Forest Service Roads 108 and 107 to reach Burnett Gap along Highway 180. By regional standards the trails are not highly technical but include considerable elevation gain.
Support locations on the course include Vogel State Park Group Shelter, Fire Pit, Fish Gap and Skeenah Gap. Mulky Gap is added as a support location for the 40 km race after it is set up. Hot food and drinks are available at Vogel and restrooms are adjacent to the campsites. Volunteers are acknowledged with credit toward future race entries.
