Bryre Dragon
Bryre Dragon is a multi-distance trail event held at Vogel State Park near Blairsville, GA. The event includes several trail races that use portions of the Duncan Ridge and Coosa Loop systems and support areas on the Dragon Spine.
- 100 mile race
- 40 mile race
- 40 km race
The full 40 mile lap runs from Vogel to Skeenah and back and combines the Coosa Loop, the Duncan Ridge Trail, a short section of the Benton MacKaye Trail, and a few miles of Forest Service road. The trails are not highly technical by regional standards but include considerable elevation gain and river crossing on the outbound leg. The course is mostly out-and-back with some variations on the return using FS Roads 108/107 to reach Burnett Gap.
Support locations are placed along the course, including Vogel State Park, Fire Pit, Fish Gap, and Skeenah Gap, with Mulky Gap added as an additional support point for the shorter race. Hot food, drinks, and restroom access are noted at the main shelter. Races include multiple cutoff points at key locations and a final overall time limit. Volunteers receive credit toward future race entries. Check-in and race operations are organized around the Group Shelter at Vogel State Park.
