Avon Valley Relay - 40th Anniversary
Avon Valley Runners presents a special 40th Anniversary edition of its annual baton relay. The event uses a lapping loop from Trowbridge Rugby Football Club (TRFC) that follows a route around Semington, along the canal tow path and around the rugby field, forming an approximate ~8 km loop for each lap.
Race headquarters are at Trowbridge Rugby Football Club, Paxcroft, Hilperton, Trowbridge, BA14 6JB. Parking is at TRFC and teams are encouraged to car share where possible. Licensed bar and snacks are available at the venue. Entries are limited on the day and subject to availability.
Teams may include up to four people. No solo entries are permitted. Teams of two or three must complete four laps to be eligible for prizes. Minimum age is 13 years on the day of the race. Timing is not chip timed. Prizes are awarded to the overall winning team and to the fastest mens, womens, and mixed teams based on cumulative team time. Race permit ARC/26/0369 is in place.
The lap route starts and finishes at TRFC. Runners carry a baton and follow a lane toward Whaddon Lane, turn toward Semington along St George’s Road to the High Street, then to the Canal Bridge and onto the canal tow path past the swing bridge, returning via Whaddon Lane to TRFC where each runner completes a lap of the rugby field before handing on.
