Atlanta Fat Ass 50K

The Atlanta Fat Ass 50K is a trail event at Sweetwater State Park in Lithia Springs, GA. It offers the following distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

The course uses the white trails and consists of six loops run counter-clockwise. Runners descend Jack's and return up the stairs on each loop. The trail can be technical in places with roots, rocks, and boulders. Poles are allowed but most participants do not use them. Bright tape and flags will mark the route. The start and finish are located at the group shelter.

This is a GUTS event that is free to enter but open only to 2027 GUTS members. Membership opens on November 1 on Ultrasignup and event registration opens November 11, 2026.

A community crockpot chili contest provides post-race food. Participants are asked to bring chili in a crockpot. The organizers supply bowls, utensils, and toppings, and each runner receives a ballot to vote for a favorite chili. The chili that participants bring serves as the post-race meal.

Packet pickup is at the group shelter on race morning. Parking is available in the group shelter lot or adjacent areas; participants should follow signs and volunteer directions. There is a $10 state park parking fee or an accepted annual Georgia State Park pass; the fee is collected after arrival into the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
