Ashland Run
The Ashland Run is an informal, rugged community competitive run in Ashland, Oregon, described as the oldest continuous competitive run in the city. The course is approximately 4.6 miles and passes through several neighborhoods, alleys and trails, including a stretch that winds through Lithia Park before finishing near the start.
The route begins at the intersection of Hargadine and Fork Streets in front of the outdoor Shakespeare Theatre and returns close to that point. The approximate halfway point is about 500 feet higher in elevation than the low point near the library, which lies roughly a quarter mile into the course. Due to utility work, the course was altered slightly for the most recent running and a course map is provided by the organizers.
The event is organized by the founding brothers who have served as longtime race directors. There has not been an entry fee for years; entry is free and donations are accepted. Refreshments are provided at the end of the race and a traditional random prize drawing follows. Organizers recommend that participants use their own tracking devices and timers.
