Turtle Trot
The Turtle Trot is an annual fundraiser for The Crest held at Willow-Witt Ranch near Ashland, Oregon. The 7th annual event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, and offers trail running options alongside a family-oriented Fun Run.
Participants choose among these distances:
- 10K - two-lap course with the second lap run in reverse
- 5K - single loop on the same trail system
- Kids Fun Run - family-friendly short course
Courses run on rolling singletrack through meadows, wetlands, oak woodlands, and native conifer forest, and cross a few seasonal creeks. Routes start around 4,500 feet and climb to nearly 5,000 feet, with views that include Mount Shasta, Pilot Rock, and Mount Ashland. The terrain is varied and technical in places, designed for hikers and adventure runners.
A communal, made-from-scratch breakfast is served after the race at the campground. A hands-on Western Pond Turtle learning session follows, with binoculars provided, connecting the local turtle population and habitat to broader ecological and climate issues. Awards include age-based divisions for men and women and a special award titled The Turtle for the last finisher.
This event is held on a working farm; no outside dogs or pets are permitted due to the presence of Maremma livestock guardian dogs. All proceeds support The Crest, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Listed entry fees apply and are subject to an increase after May 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
