Race Overview
The Ashenfelter 8K Classic and the Tom Fleming 2K are road running events held in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. The 8K race honors a local Olympic Champion who secured the steeplechase gold medal at the 1952 Helsinki Games. The 2K run is dedicated to the local two-time winner of the New York City Marathon. Proceeds from the event benefit the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation.
Course Details
Both distances feature USATF certified courses. The 8K course consists of relatively flat roads through the historic areas of Glen Ridge and includes two water stations for participants. The 2K distance is an out-and-back course located on Ridgewood Avenue.
Participation and Logistics
The event utilizes Glen Ridge High School as a central hub, with the parking lot and gymnasium serving as areas for awards. All awards for the 8K event are organized as grab-and-go. The events offered include:
