Event
The Ashenfelter 8K Classic and the Tom Fleming 2K take place in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, at Glen Ridge High School, 200 Ridgewood Avenue. The 2026 edition is the 27th A8K Classic. The event includes two race distances:

Registration for both events opens August 1, 2026. Entry fees listed are $35 for the A8K and $30 for the Tom Fleming 2K. Proceeds benefit the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation. The event is held rain or shine.
Race details, course and services
The 8K course is USATF certified, described as a relatively flat road course with two water stops through Glen Ridge. The one-mile course is USATF certified and runs out-and-back on Ridgewood Avenue. Scoring is provided by CompuScore and results are posted online. Pre-registered packet pick-up is at the Glen Ridge High School gymnasium on the Wednesday before the race and on Thanksgiving Day beginning early in the morning. Unclaimed shirts may be redistributed 30 minutes before the start.
Awards and amenities
Trophies are awarded to overall male and female winners of both races. Additional awards include age-division apparel for top finishers, a commemorative medal for all Tom Fleming 2K participants, ceramic cups to the first 100 male and first 100 female A8K finishers, and $1,200 in prize money for current USATF-NJ members (allocated to top overall and top age-graded masters). Long-sleeve tech tops are offered to the first 3,000 A8K pre-registered participants and long-sleeve cotton shirts to the first 1,000 TF2K pre-registered participants.
