The Event
The NYCRUNS Go Nuts for Donuts 10K is a late autumn run on Governors Island. The event includes a race bib, free ferry rides for runners and guests, an official tech shirt, and post-race refreshments including a donut.
The Course
The 10 km race consists of two loops around Governors Island, providing views of New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan. The course is USATF-certified. The start and finish lines are near the festival area. Due to a high number of turns, the organizers do not advise handcycle or wheelchair athletes to register.
Amenities and Logistics
A Festival Area near the ferry terminal serves as the hub for bib and shirt pick-up, bag check, and portable bathrooms. Bag check requires a single clear bag. The race uses a pace-based start corral system with corrals AA-F. Hydration stations with water and electrolyte fluids are on the course and at the finish. Post-race refreshments include fresh fruit and a donut.
Bibs can be picked up on race morning using a QR code available in the runner's dashboard. NYCRUNS members can have their bibs mailed for free if registered 20 or more days prior; non-members can pay an extra fee for this service. Shirts are only available for pick-up on race day.
Getting There
Access is via the free Governors Island Ferry from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street in Manhattan. Organizers suggest taking the 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM ferry. Several subway lines and bus routes serve the ferry terminal.
Results and Awards
Results are emailed and posted online post-race. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary runners (gun time). Age group awards are also given based on chip time across several categories.
Policies
A standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies, though NYCRUNS members can withdraw for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not permitted. The use of headphones that hinder awareness may lead to disqualification. All races have a time limit for course support and an official finish.
