Event Overview
The Around Cape Ann Half Marathon is a long-standing running tradition with roots dating back to 1933. This road race follows a coastal route around Cape Ann, passing through the seaside villages of Gloucester and Rockport. Participants experience scenery that includes harbors, coves, and beaches along the New England shoreline.
Course Details
The race takes place on open roads where local police monitor traffic. Runners are required to stay to the side of the road throughout the event. The course features six aid stations providing water, located at approximately miles 2, 3.5, 5, 6.5, 9, and 11.5. A restroom is available on the course near mile 6.

Logistics
The event utilizes a point-to-point format. Parking and participant check-in are located at O'Maley Middle School. After collecting bib numbers and shirts, participants use a shuttle service to reach the starting line at Good Harbor Beach, located approximately three miles away. The starting area features a welcome tent with water, snacks, and energy gels, along with gear check facilities and restrooms.
Awards and Recognition
Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 19 and under to 75-79. Scoring is based on gun times in accordance with USATF rules. Award winners must collect their prizes from the designated tent on-site, as there is no formal ceremony and items are not mailed post-race.
