Event overview
The Festivus 5K for Autism is a 5-kilometre road race in historic downtown Salem, Massachusetts. The 2025 edition is the 14th running and is scheduled for December 14, 2025. The event benefits the Northshore Education Consortium and, over thirteen years, the race has raised more than $280,000 to support children with autism. Organizers expect about 500 runners.
Race details
The race start and finish are on Derby Street. The course is described as fast and flat and includes one water stop. Entry fees are listed as $30 in advance and $35 on race day. Race shirts are provided to the first 400 applicants; sizes are not guaranteed. Packet pickup is the day before the race at New England Running Company in Beverly, MA. Public parking is available in lots, garages, and on streets near the race.
Awards include overall Festivus pole trophies for male and female winners, age-group prizes for top three finishers across listed divisions, a team award based on the average time of the top five teammates (teams must include at least one female), and best costume awards for male and female. A post-race party for runners is hosted by Finz Seafood & Grill at 86 Wharf Street, Salem. Professional timing is provided by Second Wind Timing.
