The Arc of Northern Virginia Community Challenge
The Arc of Northern Virginia Community Challenge is a fundraising event that brings together companies and the community to support programs, services, and advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event takes place at Burke Lake Park, with activities centered at Shelter C (7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA).
The event features multiple participatory options:
- 5k Run: 3.1 Miles
- 5K/2K Walk: 2K (1k each direction on paved road)
The 5k course is an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at Shelter C. The surface is partially paved and partially on a dirt path with some rocks and roots over mildly rolling terrain. The run is chip timed by NoVA Race Timing and race results will be posted on their website. Post-race activities at Shelter C include food, music, and an awards ceremony.
Awards are given to the top-five men and top-five women overall with Amazon gift cards. Age group awards go to the top two males and females in each age bracket: under 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. All preregistered participants receive an event t-shirt and a race bib. Registration opens 3/3/2026 and closes 6/5/2026; the registration fee is $45.00.
The 2k fun walk is non-competitive, takes place on a paved road, and is pet, family, wheelchair, and stroller friendly. Finish times for the walk are not recorded. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
