Arc GLOW Friends & Family 5K and Fun Walk
The Arc GLOW Friends & Family 5K and Fun Walk is a community running and walking event scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026 at Elba Day Habilitation Center, 4603 Barrville Road, Elba. The program offers a 5K option and a Fun Walk and is open to people of all ages and skill levels. The event explicitly welcomes the participation of the people Arc GLOW serves and aligns with the organization’s mission to support people with disabilities together with their families and community.
A feature called Taste of Country presents a display of fruits and vegetables donated by area farmers. Participants, sponsors and volunteers each have the opportunity to take some of the donated produce home.
The event began as a memorial fundraiser in the mid 2000s and later combined with another memorial 5K in 2017. Funds raised support a local memorial scholarship for area high school seniors planning studies in human services, special education or related fields, and they also help fund Arc GLOW programs and services. Sponsor recognition includes named levels such as Bluebonnet, Blue Spruce and Blue Knight. Sponsorships and pre registration are planned to open later in 2026.
