Wayne A Burlison Colon Cancer Awareness Run/Walk
The Wayne A Burlison Colon Cancer Awareness Run/Walk is an annual event held in Albion, New York. Organized by Wolfpack Multisport, the event takes place at 324 East Ave and honors the memory of Wayne A. Burlison. A portion of the proceeds is contributed to a memorial scholarship established in 2014.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 0.25 mile Kids Run
- 3.17 mile run/walk (available in-person or virtual)
- 10 km run/walk (available in-person or virtual)
The course leads runners through the historic Mt. Albion Cemetery. This rural cemetery, established in the 1840s on a glacial drumlin, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The route features rolling terrain and scenic views, passing through a historic district. The 10 km course consists of two loops with a turnaround point located near Clarendon Road.
The event route includes at least one water station and is supported by volunteers stationed along the path. All participants who complete their event receive a finisher medal. While the distances are open to runners, the 3.17 mile (5K) course is also open to walkers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
