Courses run through the foothills of the San Tan and Goldmine mountain ranges on rolling single-track trails with Saguaro cactus. Sections include a very steep, rocky Goldmine climb and portions of sandy wash. The 50K course consists of three loops of the 17K route, alternating direction each loop.

Aid stations are placed roughly every 2.2 to 5.1 miles and provide water, electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit; participants should carry at least one bottle. The event is cupless - runners must bring a reusable cup or buy one on site. Crews are allowed only at the start/finish headquarters; pacers are not permitted. Drop bags are allowed for 50K and 26K runners at the start/finish. Chip timing and live tracking are used, and awards are given to the top three male and female finishers at each distance; all finishers receive a finisher award.
