1in5k Dyslexia Dash at Freestone District Park
The 1in5k Dyslexia Dash is a community event on Saturday, September 26, 2026, held at Freestone District Park in Gilbert, Arizona. The event is organized with involvement from IDA Arizona and managed by StartLine Racing. It frames a 5K run and walk as a rally for dyslexia awareness, highlighting that one in five people are impacted and promoting Structured Literacy.
Event formats include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 100 yard Kids Dash (untimed)
- Virtual Run (US addresses only)
All in-person and virtual participants receive a custom finisher medal and a custom dri-fit tech shirt, with an option to decline the shirt for a discount. The 5K includes male and female age group awards for the top three finishers in defined age brackets. The event uses chip timing with real time results and publishes photos. A pre- and post-race runner's brunch provides light refreshments.
The race accommodates wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons with a requirement to start at the back of the pack. Bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the course. Leashed pets are permitted. The event proceeds rain or shine and does not issue refunds for weather. Fundraising is part of the event, with a listed goal of $5,000 for IDA Arizona, a nonprofit supporting dyslexic learners, families, and educators.
