1in5k Dyslexia Dash at Freestone District Park
The 1in5k Dyslexia Dash is a community event at Freestone District Park in Gilbert, Arizona that raises awareness for dyslexia and supports IDA Arizona. The event features in person and virtual options and includes a family friendly program with opportunities for fundraising and team participation.
Participants can choose from the following options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 100 yard Kids Dash, untimed
- Virtual Run, packet mailed after the event to US addresses
All participants receive a custom finisher's medal and a custom dri fit tech shirt with an option to decline the shirt for a small discount. The 5K uses chip timing and posts real time results and photos online and via a mobile app. Male and female age group awards are presented for the top three finishers in the 5K, with age groups ranging from youth through 80 and over. Pre and post race refreshments are provided, including granola bars, fruit, water, and sports drink.
The event is managed by StartLine Racing and partners with IDA Arizona, a nonprofit focused on supporting dyslexic learners through training, resources, and advocacy. Mail in registration is available via a registration form. The event is pet friendly for leashed animals and welcomes wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons with the requirement that they start near the back of the field. Bicycles, skates, skateboards and motorized devices are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
